Punch Out for the nintendo being my all time favorite game. i wanted to just draw all of the 16 to 17 characters. all in all! it was pretty cool. here im just showin the inks and final colors. i had fun! tell me what you think?

DRINK DRAW AND LAUGH

Last night i attended a drink and draw over in TANTRUM CLUB on state street. i got invited by some cats over on myspace. Really cool atmosphere, Plus the crowd was cool and welcome me with open arms. Anywho this DRINK AND DRAW was just a sit around table talkin and well drinkin and drawin. My first time being there i just drew scribbles but drew a full drawin sketch of SOFA KINGDOM. I cant wait to meet up for the next time around. :)

KING CITY IN THE HISS HOUSE!!

AHHHHH! Im Feeling good this morning. (MINUS my coffee intake;) . Last couple of days ive just been cranking out sketches.Im Also inking SOFA KINGDOM CHRISTMAS issue. (YES) CHRISTMAS issue strip. Ive been drawin more so then ever. Im just workin on various ilustrations. Mostly more for myself and for my portfolio =)
Im also drawing more character from other creators in my style. I BANged out this KING CITY (illustration above). I really like the story and art by BRANDON GRAHAM. More illustration in the works.

Hey im really siked about some new shirts made here in chicago. By Iridium Co. Ltd. I was asked a month or so ago to create a albert einstein type character. The images actually came out pretty cool and the colors too. Ive done like 50 or 60 designs in the past before and saw them on shirts but im actually hyped to see this. SPACE LAD 2000 AND A HALF CENTURY!!!

I finished my character designs last night of The TURKEY CONFERENCE ( last blog posted) and my client and his agency where very pleased with my work and speed. Actually im pretty suprised at myself. Im one not to give myself enough credit or believing that my work is presentable. So thats why i was suprised. I even get abit nervous on pricing my work. I tend to under price and walk away kickin myself in the ass. But lately ive been pricing my work at well... decent price and my clents havent argue a change. I wonder and sure alot of you artist out there would understand. I dont expect non artist to understand.

its cool! enough of this titty blogshit! Im just happy and relieved and im lookin forward to workin on my next illustration gig! Actually its for a friends novel . Im hyped and curious of the outcome of my work. im going for the vector art route for this one and i hope my friend enjoys.

As a warm up for starting my new project im using yet again adobe illustrator and i did a random character in space. im playin with colors lalely too. Inspired by ol CHUCK JONES CARTOONS and my cute lil nephew diego.

JIVE TURKEY...

This past week ive been character designin (as usual) and just plan graphic illustrating (below) for an agency for there Thanksgiving theme. They called me to draw what turkeys would look like if they where f*cking around in a conference room. This gig didnt take long. It was more of playin with the characters expression and layin it on paper and computer. Plus i got paid for something well.. easy to draw. Now on thursday when i eat my meal with love ones. im goin to wonder if turkeys really listen to there headphones and eat giant sandwiches.

CREATIVE ASS KICKING....

im just multi tasking with projects and emplyoment right now. Im inbetweeen of summittin storyboards and desiging characters designing. i have my table and floor scribble of skeetchs. (ITS A MESSS!)
Right now i just did some various poses of the diffrent characters. just to keep my feet knee deep in my creative mess.

HALLOWEEEEN TREATS!

Im gettin in the spirit of Halloween. Im workin on a three part skit of Sofa kINGDOM for this coming holiday (halloweeen)
i had the idea when i was illustrating the summers DOG DAYS SUMMER. The story is broken up in three parts. I was in the trend of Zombies. I put together the concept of having the kids ... ( DAVID, REEF, ALI.) turn into zombies. I the story is 2 out of three finish inked! but they are goin to be in grey scaled! In the mean time i made some SOFA KINGDOM PROMOS FOR Myspace. One regular and the other zombie! i had fun with the prospective. im coloring these pieces too!
ihope you guys dig! Most of the dialogue is played out and i plan to have the rest done with third. I hope after the HALLOWEEN SPECIAL Is illustrated. im goin to get back on track with the monthy stripps.!

bye shadow

So I heard this past week that my nephews dog shadow past away. i was bummed out from the lost of his dog. (17 years old) i mean i know alot of people will say that he's just a dog. But he was a family dog and not any family dog. Shadow had character. Actually i believe he thought he thought he was people. ( i know it sounds crazy! but true) there where alot of fond memorys of Shadow that i can think of. But the ones that i can say stick out the most are the ones with my nephew. I can recall when i was pre teen and lookin at comicbooks as my directions for my career and my nephew (Jonathan) and i playin ideas of a comic strip of "Shadow the wonder dog". His weapon of course was his elastic tongue. Caused by an freak accident working as a guard dog for the acme rubber factory made his tongue all rubbery. I can assure you it was hirlarious. but the storys wrote themselfs. i sometimes thought we got out of hand. As years went by. I would show people the character as well as the story. Some people like it some ex girls hated the designs (bite me) and the teachers at my college loved the idea. I actually used shadow in some of my design classes. So Shadow was a character and he meant alot to me. Im sorry that he gone. But im glad that he was there for cheering up and keepin us company. i think Bill WATTERSON creator of CALVIN AND HOBBES said it best. He mention this about the lost of his real life cat "that even tho they are gone . we can always meet up in are dreams." For that i plan to have shadow in future projects. so he wouldnt be forgotten. Some of my concept work you can see that i still use my shadow refrences from my earily pictures.


Im workin on a tiny comic strip (one shot ) of shadow. I hope you enjoy as well i hope jonathan does as well. WIth respect and love.

FUUUUUUUUUCK! YIKES! Ive havent been keepin up with my bloggin! i know i ssuck! Well the good thing that ive been promising myself was that ive been makin an effort to work on and illustration at least every other day. Lately ive been goin back to character designing for if not for a couple of agencys its for kids t-shirts. In between of workin on my illustrations ive been workin on my new room studio! its abitch painting and slave laboring! but it has to be done before winter right! hey thats kinda like the grasshopper and the ant! im the ants and an i know alot of grasshoppers that are just sittin around!;P
Well I have alot of stuff for the coming fall. I did some samples for an education book.
i also have some advertistment work i did this past week!

Okay i finished the mario verus wario piece! i did the ol speed panting and wanted to to see what i can bang out!
i think it was well over an hour or so to do. all and all i had fun! Still workin on abunch of sketchin and my portfolio.

I was goin threw some game magazines and saw that the new smash brothers is coming out soon! and the character line up is pretty cool! i just dont see what the deal with SOLID SNAKE from METAL GEAR? He seems outta place! well i like the game and i wanted to sketch out my vs mode picture of mario and wario! a really quick sketch! color coming soon!

Anime influnce

Im still on my sketch kick! i have a list that im tryin to draw out as much as possible before the year is over. Actually im just try to draw as much in a day or how many in a week. Coloring is another medium im tryin to understand. I have diffrent styles for coloring. Im tryin to do one style for now. More pieces to come.

SKETCHING OUT THE KINKS!!

The week after the comic show ive been going through a sketchin kick! i mean i try to draw a sketch here or there. i just been drawin non stop! there been stuff that ive didnt no i drew! its just random ideas character from comics that i just wanted to see in my take. I think one of my motivations is Mike Wieringos (R.I.P) when he threws a sketch mostly every day on his blog. Im not puttin myself in his category. I just think this just for me is just a way to get kinks and bugs out of my system. Well here are a few pieces that ive sketched out or inked drawing. Colors coming soon.

NARUTO SKETCH

Im just gettin back into the regular schedule from last weeks comic show Ive been drawin random character to put in my portfolio. Naruto is abit new to me ! but ive been watching the later episodes. i wanted to draw him in my take.

WIZARD WORLD OVA.....

Well the comic show is over! (yahooo!!) Took place over at the Stephenson center over in rosemont il area! This year didnt seem like a huge show. I didnt see as much traffic as i usually see from past cons. Maybe cause its too close to San diego. Well i feel relief that the show is over! Stayin up late and running around headless can really be a bother.(try it sometime!) I think the show went well! i did get to draw character sketchs for those who asked. (thank you all who ask!:)) The products that was presented did well like the SOFA KINGDOM COMICS, POSTERS, PINS . The variant Zombie comic sold. I was really happy about that. The flip book Outcast/ Hellriders book did so/so. On my end of presenting it to customers. I showed it as something for more mature audience. I got present my first sketchbook this conventions as well! I have to give a big thanks to Davids brother in law for buying the sketch book. I felt really greatful for him pickin it up! i owe that guy big!! That whole weekend eating habbits suck big time. I did have my sister adela come to the show and bring me fresh fruits and water to clean out my system from the nasty mc donalds in take! yuck!!! :( ive been detoxin for the last few days with spinach salads and fruits and water. to flush that stuff out of my system. I think mc donalds should have a warning...



On the last day of the con i woke up with the sense of depression and abit anger. I feel like this each year on the sundays of every show. I get dress and go to the convention in as a group effort. Not blaming nobody for mistakes. But blame my own. Im switching gears for the next show to just push my own product and my own samples. Im still determine to make SOFA KINGDOM a house hold name. Its just i have to focus me.
Its always great to be part of something. But if your the only idiot puttin a major precentage in the group. And to those who arent doing nothing but sittin and blamin there problems on you ! well then theres something wrong. I think im ready to just move on with stuff. Not getting younger. Can't be tryin to help out everybody.



Well heres to next show. with new ideas! Samples to pass around. ohh and my own table tooo! still handsome! Just more for me to go around! ;)

SOFA'S COMING......

Its coming! Im suffring the seven stages of Comic FEVER. Im Hyped, EXCITED, PARANOID, HUNGRY, HORNY then SLEEPY THEN HUNGRY AGAIN ! :) But serious! the pages are coming out smoothly! I feel i topped myself from the previous SOFA KINGOM comics and strips that where put out. I love what i created. Im just likin the new material. I know in future comic shows im goin to be back on this blogger rambbling how i did something new and cool. The pages above im showin on this blog are some of the final page for the comic released for the Chicago show. These are just a few samples of whats going to be in the 24 page. Again the process of making the SOFA KINGDOM comic book pose to the strips is. Instead of reef (co-creator) Writing out the pages. Ive just been drawin out the drawin first then he come in with something or we play out a page timing for dialouge. Its fun! Ive learned alot how to tell a story with out the words for the picture. This summer comic book is titled SOFA KINGDOM "DOGS DAY SUMMER" . (thank reef!) Its goin to have Two covers! One regular cover and a varaint ZOMBIE cover. Its goin to kick ass!! you seeee!! im just speakin on my behalf ! -alero!

T-PARTY

Its beeeeeeen to long from up dating my blog! i know i suck!! ive been getting ready for the comic show with two SOFA KINGDOM books. One is a whole year of comic strips with commentary from both myself and co creator. The other SOfa kingdom book title SUMMER DOG DAYS. Im almost done with the illustration of the ink. 2 pages i swear!!
In the mean time of the comic and creator own creation of SUNDOWN ROULETT and comic samples. Ive just created a flyer for a friends TATTOO PARTY. art shown above. There wasnt much thought to creating this flyer. I had fun and i made sure i left room for space for the text above and the side of the image for information concering the party. Im still learning the tricks for page layout.. well back to the comics. I think i'll have the pages done for printing this weekend.

werewolfs and bears....ohh my!!

Soooooooo!!! im still working putting three books for the summer comic show here in Chicago! i did this piece for my writer turn artist up-coming comic. Im dont no if he has a title. But the comic is going to be made up of a 5 page pencil preview. I played off his five pages to come up with this picture for a cover. It was a cool exercise for my comicstyle. Lately ive been in my SOFA KINGDOM STYLE and graphic design. It came out cool! maybe yeah, maybe not cover! its still cool tho-

Summer here!! In less then two months comes CHICAGO WIZARD WORLD COMIC SHOW. im preparing for 3 comics. Ive started some work already. More art will be posted in the coming days. I drew this picture as an excerise for fun. there is no zombie plot! i just wanted the boys to run into some hungry for brains zombies.

VENOM

Here are some random sketch that i was playin around with! I was thinking of the characters from the spiderman 3 movie. i inked it then colored it! actually i colored twice! Again im still learning color theory! Fun was the outcome. im still learing.
